Sunflowers are symbolic of summer and long, hot, lazy days in the sun. They are big, bold, exuberant, and fun to paint. During the long summer days, sunflowers change their orientation and follow the sun during its rising and setting. They are a joy to draw and paint and the perfect subject for mixed media. Come spend the afternoon practicing watercolor and mixed media skills while creating ink and watercolor paintings of sunflowers. Heidi will demonstrate wet washes, wet-in-wet, softening edges, and using ink for emphasis. There will be plenty of time for practicing techniques and completing your final piece.
During class you will be working from photographs, which Heidi will provide, and the photos help to visualize the images in 2D.  No need to worry about purchasing or bringing anything to class. All tools, materials, and supplies, which are specially curated by Heidi, are provided in class. Each student will arrive to find their own individual watercolor work-station ready with everything they will need. All levels are welcome, no prior experience necessary!
