Monoprinting offers a variety of possibilities for experimentation and is a fun and interesting way to make one of a kind prints as elements in other work. Printing on the soft surface of the gel plate has changed access to printmaking because a press is not necessary. The gel plates are easy to make, and can be as large as the surface on which you wish to print. Monoprinting on tissue paper can be collaged in layers into various other works, including paintings and three-dimensional surfaces. Working on various sizes and shapes of gel plates with acrylic paint on tissue paper, you will create a personal printing mask (a shape that blocks the ink in the printing process) with a hot glue gun. Your materials fee covers gel plates, use of glue and glue guns, tissue paper, stencils, and texture templates. If you have your own glue and glue gun please feel free to bring your own. You are invited to bring a design for your printing mask, some personal stencils, interesting thin papers for a personal touch, or an object to cover with prints. The more items you bring to work with the more interesting your work becomes! Please see the online class listing for detailed directions to the studio.
