Learn the fundamentals of using botanical dyes for block printing. Relying on the shapes and colors of the season, you will review different techniques for printing with botanical dye using contemporary examples on paper and fabric. Jill will demonstrate how to use a selection of flowers and botanical elements to design and carve a block. Finally, select from a range of pre-carved blocks and paper to create individual prints and a page of wrapping paper. To create your prints and piece of wrapping paper you will use the selection of pre-carved blocks and paper provided in class. You will take home your beautiful botanical prints and wrapping paper, a handout about carving your own blocks and using botanical dyes, and your journal for note-taking. This is an all-levels workshop and no prior experience is required.
