Knitting is one of the most relaxing activities, and is proven to help calm the body, still the mind, and improve memory. You can also make beautiful items for yourself, or to give as gifts, and knitting has a funny way of leading to new friends! Learn the basics of the knit stitch, the purl stitch, and how to cast on and bind off. Suzanne will share examples of projects you can complete with the skills learned in class, and talk about the craft and practice of knitting overall. There will be ample time to get help with your stitches. During class you will begin a simple scarf pattern that you will take home to finish with your newfound knitting powers! Your materials fee covers a pair of knitting needles, one skein of wool yarn (non-wool available on request), and a pattern. You will also go home with resources to help you problem solve your knitting projects, and a 10% discount card for a local yarn shop. There will also be additional yarn available for purchase in class. This class is perfect for the complete beginner or anyone coming back to knitting after a long break. Students between the ages of 15 and 17 are welcome if they attend with an adult.
