This course will introduce you to an array of basic bookbinding techniques, which you can easily perform at home! You will learn about the history of bookbinding and modern applications, as you learn the basics of some binding concepts like folding, piercing holes, sewing, gluing, and planning a book’s layout. You will use your creativity and intentions for your book’s use to make it uniquely yours. In our hands, our words, and our collective story lies a path forward; book making can be a step towards our joy, our liberation, and our love for this world! Come explore the magic process of creating a book with your own two hands! You will have time to create two standard books, both around 8.5x5" and will go home with new bookbinding skills to start your bookmaking practice! This class is suitable for total beginners and can also be modified for those with more experience. Your materials fee covers all of your materials and supplies, including paper, decorative paper, thread, adhesives, and tools for stitching. Please bring your lunch and a drink.
