Create a tin can robot full of personality and whimsy using repurposed and recycled metal items. Learn how to select components, embellish your bot, and finally assemble it into a piece of art full of color, texture, and movement that is worthy of display in your home or garden. As you bring your new upcycled friend to life you will learn cold connection techniques, wire wrapping, pop riveting, and how to cut and pierce metal. No welding or soldering needed! Bryn will provide a quick presentation with lots of visual examples for inspiration, offer guidance on techniques and safety, then you'll customize and create your robot! You will have time in class to complete one robot approximately 12-16 inches tall. Your materials fee covers all of the materials and supplies needed, including cans, embellishments, wire, rivets, flexible conduit/tubing. Please be sure to bring sturdy work gloves for working with metal. You may also bring pliers and/or tin snips if you have them. If you have been wondering what to do with the weird bits in your junk drawer, or kitchen items too sentimental to donate and too good to recycle, then wonder no more! Bring anything to class you would like to include in your robot. And of course, bring your imagination!
