Calling Back the Heart: Transformational Painting Retreat

Join Majio for a weekend transformational painting using large-format acrylic painting. Based on a fairy tale older than Grimm's, you will embark on a journey guided through the ancient path of the instinctive wild woman that resides in us all. Open to everyone, this workshop explores how the creative process shifts awareness and incites delight with new ways of perceiving. Three themes are explored through somatic and intuitive use of materials. First recognition without blame of what has been given away, taken away, bargained for, or compromised. Next descent conflict is organically transformed, releasing old identities with new understanding. Finally unification in the shift of awareness. As the painting stages transform in the creative process, new realizations emerge.
There will be collaborations with other participants to bring the different stages of the journey to life. You will use different techniques including creating and using mark-making tools, additive and subtractive painting processes and collaborative painting, all while exploring the possibilities of the materials as a reflection of the inner process in a joyful and revealing workshop.
Open to everyone, and all skill levels are welcome! Space is limited so please register early.
