It is suggested that you get the Value Study App for your phone. It is a way to look at the world through a lens of white through grayscale. The word “notan” is often used for two-tone dark and light rendering of an image. However, the deeper meaning of the Japanese word “notan” speaks to how the contrast values inform each other as complementary rather than contrary. An example is how the Yin/Yang sign is a symbol of a spectrum of wholeness, not division. Our culture trains us to perceive differences as separations. Leading up to the workshop use the app to see the world around you in black and white as whole rather than a polarity. See if your habits of perceiving begin to change. https://valuestudy.app
