Painting Into Your Bright Shadow

earn to play with your bright shadow as a resource for creative energy through transformational large format painting. This approach creates deep encounters with archetypes that can change how you perceive yourself. You will use a somatic approach focusing on body sensations, rather than your mental perceptions. Through various marking tools, and the intimate energy exchange of mark-making (color, shape, texture, and collage) you will explore the Bright Shadow, and the positive parts of yourself that you often give away. This is a playful, empowering experience for beginners, and can offer the opportunity to loosen habitual techniques and perspectives for more advanced painters. With an emphasis on play and experimentation, you will stretch old concepts as you explore the creative process. You will take home your large- format painting of mixed media collage and markings as an expression of your personal journey through the creative process.
Majio’s studio is a Japanese inspired space so come prepared to take off your shoes and wear cozy socks! Bring lunch, and something to drink. 
Your materials fee includes all of the paint, most brushes, substrate, marking implements, templates, and paper.
