Explore mandala design as a grounding and restorative art form, blending creative expression with nervous system support. Learn about the use of mandalas across cultures, with particular focus on their therapeutic role as a tool for accessing the subconscious, supporting emotional integration, and creating a sense of regulation. Learn how circular design, repetition, and pattern can help shift an activated nervous system into a calmer, “rest and digest” or “creative flow” state. You will practice creating mandalas through both drawing and hands-on botanical design. Using natural materials, you will arrange organic forms into circular compositions that are captured on cyanotype sunprint paper, creating a finished piece to take home as a visual reminder of this practice.
This workshop is perfect if you are hoping to begin a simple creative ritual, explore art-based approaches to regulation, or explore mandala-making. No prior art experience is required.
