This all-day, expansive baking academy allows time for more advanced and complex recipes. Each day will include deep dives into baking chemistry, demonstrations, and baking plenty of bars, cookies, cakes, pastry, and breads! Campers will work in teams and expand on their skills in teamwork, communication, organization, kitchen safety, food hygiene, and the science of baking. Campers will focus on the importance of following chef’s instructions as part of a high-performing culinary team.
During the week you will take a few field trips to local bakeries and farms, for behind the scenes views of commercial baking, and where ingredients come from. Each day you will take home delicious samples of your baked goods. When camp concludes you will take home your recipe packet that includes pointers, tips, and techniques that you learned in camp.
This camp is for experienced teen bakers or those who have previously completed Chef Stephany’s baking camps at Cabrillo.
Campers will travel in Cabrillo College vans, driven by camp leaders, for all of the off-site field trips.
Students are required to wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, an apron, and a hat, bandana, or hair net. Aprons and hair nets are provided in class, students may bring a hat if they prefer.
Bring lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.
