Build basic guitar skills and learn creative collaboration at Cabrillo’s state-of-the-art music education building. This is a great community environment to be creative, learn the guitar, play songs, make new friends, gain an appreciation for music, and play with other young musicians. The week starts with an introduction to chords, melody, and learning notes on the guitar strings. You will move on to rhythm and strumming patterns throughout the week, and learn to play traditional as well as popular songs with a focus on learning to read music. Guitars will be provided for this camp, but you may also bring your own if you’d like. Any kind is ok, acoustic is preferred. If it's an electric guitar you may want to bring a small amp. The amp will have to be very quiet and not become a distraction for other students. I may need to ask you to turn it off completely during some portions of the class. No experience necessary! Guitars are provided, or you may bring your own.
