Exercises will include:
Creating and using mark-making tools, additive and subtractive painting processes, the interplay of chaos and order in composition, surrealist techniques such as eclaboussure, grattage and decalcomania, collaborative painting, and exploring the possibilities and limits of materials.
Your materials fee covers specialized paper, acrylic inks, some acrylic paints and other basic supplies used in class.
Please bring a selection of brushes in different sizes, paints you enjoy working with (please, no oils), and basic stretched canvases or the wet media paper of your choice (we’re experimenting, so don’t buy the expensive stuff!). If you have a palette and palette knives please bring those, but no need to buy them if you don’t.
Parking is enforced 7 days a week on the Cabrillo Campus. Please carefully read the signage in areas where you park. Daily parking permits are $4.00 and can be purchased in any of the student parking lots from parking permit dispensers. Daily permits are only good for the date of purchase.
