Create the right skirt, with the right fit, from the right fabric! In this 3-day workshop your learn some of the basics of pattern making by creating a skirt sloper and custom fit skirt from your own measurements! A sloper is a basic pattern without seam allowances or ease, and made specifically to fit your body. In this class students create their own sloper, then use that to create a skirt pattern, then a muslin skirt, and finally a skirt made from the fabric of their choosing.
Skills covered include, testing fit, basic construction, attaching a waistband and zipper installation. Our classroom is a great space to create and sew, with Bernina sewing machines, large cutting tables, ironing boards and irons, as well as some basic sewing supplies.
Students need to bring 2-3 yards of woven fabric, thread and other important supplies. Please see the Class Resources web page for the Class Letter, which includes a list of materials and tools that are provided in class, and those that must be supplied by students. Please note there are some limitations regarding certain patterns and types of fabrics, which are detailed in the Class Letter.
