Oral Medicine Update: We will provide an update on the most common oral mucosal diseases and conditions encountered in the practice of dentistry. A focus will be placed on the etiology, clinical features, diagnostic approach and treatment. Additionally, the most current knowledge of these conditions will be stressed. Some of the topics that will be covered include: lichen planus, mucous membrane pemphigoid, recurrent aphthous stomatitis, dry mouth, and common allergic reactions.
Oral Cancer and Premalignancy: What is new?: This session will review the clinical features and etiology of oral potentially malignant and malignant lesions of the oral cavity with a focus on the most current literature. Current hot topics will be elucidated to clinicians such as the relationship of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and e-cigarettes with head and neck cancer.
