In this introductory woodworking class organized with everyone in mind, learn the foundations of working wood by hand to develop the necessary skills to build useful objects in wood, all in a supportive, inclusive environment. Though the focus is on working with hand tools, for their accuracy and ease of use, we will also take advantage of some basic power tools, to accelerate our process, resulting in a well rounded and accessible experience for all skill levels. You will explore hand carving, lamination, joinery, jig making, and non-toxic finishing, and may create projects such as spoons, small footstools, or benches. This process requires patience and some stamina! Students will have the opportunity to develop the strength and skill required to make objects with people power, and with power tools! Woodworking for Everyone welcomes all students 18 and up.
