Clothing from your past can hold so much meaning! A favorite t-shirt, the sweater that belonged to a beloved family member, or any sentimental garment that you can’t enjoy because it’s threadbare, packed in a box, or in the back of a drawer. Memorial quilts are a great way to solve this problem, and create something new from something old that is beautiful and meaningful. Jo will demonstrate each step so you can preserve and transform your beloved, sentimental clothing into your own memorial quilt! Learn how to stabilize garment fabric for quilting, work with different fabric weights in one project, use preexisting design elements to help you create your quilt design, and how to sew with invisible thread to quilt your project together.
Please bring only one article of clothing, and Jo will supply the rest of the materials. By the end of class you will take home a completed mini quilt (approx. 15" x 15") ready for display, and have the skills to make a full sized t-shirt or memorial quilt on your own!

This class is for students who have completed Introduction to the Art of Quilt Making, or for intermediate to advanced quilt makers. For information about the materials provided in class, and important details about what types of garments may be used for your project, please see the online class listing.
