« back to classes page
ClassGraphic Beautiful deciduous and evergreen trees surround us throughout Santa Cruz county and on our Cabrillo campus. In this class, Ann will provide the recipes for painting and drawing trees during classroom instruction, and working on location at various sites around Santa Cruz. Learn how to capture the color, structure and character of our local trees from roots to canopy; how to mix and see expressive tree colors; and how to create depth between trees in detail at close range and trees in silhouette. You will begin at Cabrillo, and then take your love of trees and new ideas for drawing into the field! Depending on the fall and early winter conditions, you may find bare deciduous trees, trees with colorful fall leaves, and trees maintaining their evergreen foliage. You will return to Cabrillo for the last class to share everyone's creative outpouring!

Ann will provide the details of your off-site locations during your first class meeting at Cabrillo. Demos will be in pastel, and all concepts are applicable to water media. Students are welcome to work in their selected media during class.
