Take a trip back in time and across the globe to explore Mediterranean desserts like strudels from Austria and Hungary, and baklava from Middle East and North Africa. Learn how to use phyllo dough, which has been used for centuries by many cultures as you prepare Baklava using local honey, layered sheets of phyllo pastry, and ground nuts and spices to soak in the rich syrup. You will also prepare apple strudel with local apples to symbolize the harvest and abundance. Chef Yana will teach how to cut the thinnest phyllo pastry sheets and will also share her own stories of making baklava and strudels as part of her family traditions growing up in Bulgaria. You will take home a box of your delicious Mediterranean desserts and recipes to prepare more at home!
Students must wear closed toed shoes and long pants, and may bring their favorite apron.
