Join Laura at Four Acorns Farm to learn how to make an intermediate-level basket. The basket you will weave is a handled, flat reed, curved basket. This style and shape is traditionally used to gather eggs, and is thus called an Egg Basket, but yours could be used for other small treasures or as a decorative piece of art! As you weave your basket, you will learn about the art and craft of basketry, one of the oldest art forms and traditional tools. Laura will guide you from start to finish while discussing which tools to use, and how to work with basketry reed. Resources and basket inspiration will also be shared. This class is suitable for students who have taken one of Laura’s other basketry classes, or have basketry experience.
Your materials fee will be paid in class and covers all the reed necessary to finish your project, and the required tool kit. For those students who have taken a class with Laura and already have the tool kit, you will not need to pay the $15 for the tool kit, as long as you bring all of your tools!
Be sure to wear comfortable clothing (and layers) that can get messy. Please bring lunch for your midday break. Please see the online class listing for information about parking, and how to find Four Acorns Farm.
