Silver Metal Clay Rings
ID :
14104
« back to classes page
Silver metal clay is like magic! It starts in clay form and then fires in a kiln to a solid .999 pure silver finished product–more pure than sterling silver! You'll use fine silver metal clay (.999 pure silver) to make two beautiful rings sized for you, or as a gift for someone you love.
Learn to work with the metal clay, including proper forming, firing, finishing techniques, and design considerations. Learn the use of tools such as ring sizers, ring mandrels, and metal clay specialty tools, as well as techniques for repairing breaks both before and after firing and sizing secrets for metal clay rings. You’ll have the opportunity to learn two different ways to set stones in your rings, both before and after firing. You’ll get your choice of stones from Pat’s collection of semi-precious natural and man-made stones. If you plan to make a ring for someone other than yourself, be sure to come prepared with their ring size.
Beginners are welcome! After class, we’ll fire your pieces in our jewelry kilns and pre-polish them with our magnetic tumbler. When you return to pick up your second finished piece a week after the last class, allow 15 minutes for Pat to teach you to set your stone and add patina. Class size is limited so register early!
