Vegan Cheese Making

Want to learn how to make non-dairy cheese that scratches that cheesy itch? In this introductory vegan cheese-making class you will learn how to make your favorite cheese recipes that you thought weren’t possible with a healthy, non-dairy lifestyle. Talya will show you how to make a velvety cheese sauce that goes perfectly with nachos, an addictive parmesan topping to go on everything, a simple yet impressive cultured cheese spread, and much more. As you make the recipes, you’ll be introduced to some ingredients that may be new to you, such as miso paste, nutritional yeast, and others that we’ll use to create the right texture and tang. Although you will use a variety of nuts and seeds in our recipes, you will also explore making vegan cheese with additional ingredients. You will leave with recipes for Red Potato Cheese, Kick-A** Nacho Cheese, Fermented Cashew Cheese, Parmesan Cheese, Dairy-Free Labneh (Creamy Yogurt Cheese), Nori Seed Crackers, plus four ounces of vegan cheese in a reusable glass jar to take home.
Students must wear closed toed shoes and long pants, and may bring their favorite apron.
