Beginning Basketry - Mini Round Handled Basket

ClassGraphic Join Laura at Four Acorns Farm to learn how to make a beginner level mini round handled basket. The basket you will weave is a Shaker-style, round bottomed basket with an oak notched handle. This is a scaled down version of a typical New England work basket. As you weave your basket, you will learn about the art and craft of basketry, one of the oldest art forms and traditional tools. Laura will guide you from start to finish while discussing how to work with basketry reed and which tools to use. Resources and basket inspiration will be shared. This class is suitable for all beginning students.
Everyone will work at their own pace as they learn to weave their basket. Some people may take home a completed basket, others may take home new skills to finish an in-progress basket
Your materials fee will be paid in class and covers all the reed necessary to finish your project, and the required tool kit. For those students who have taken a class with Laura and already have the tool kit, you will not need to pay the $15 for the tool kit, as long as you bring all of your tools! 
Be sure to wear comfortable clothing (and layers) that can get messy. Please bring lunch for your midday break. Please see the online class listing for information about parking, and how to find Four Acorns Farm.

Classes at Four Acorns Farm are held in the 1880s “olde” barn whose walls are lined with antiques. Right next door is the rare breed poultry barn and two new brand new bathrooms. During class you will be surrounded by the sounds of Four Acorns Farm and, if time after class permits, you may tour the poultry barn, orchard, and garden.

Everyone will work at their own pace as they learn to weave their basket. Some people may take home a completed basket, others may take home new skills to finish an in-progress basket
