Field trips, road trips, scavenger hunts, and plenty of hands-on activities will put your new marine science skills to work throughout the Monterey Bay Area. Develop your scientific observation skills by doing scientific drawings, and learn random sampling data gathering skills by building and working with a quadrat (a frame used to isolate and study the distribution of an item over a large area). Explore central coast intertidal zones on your trips to Pigeon Point and Asilomar Beach as you learn to identify organisms and the adaptations necessary to live in that environment. Get a first hand look at the work being done by scientists in the Monterey Bay Area on your trips to the Seymour Marine Discovery Center, Elkhorn Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve, and your tour of the Moss Landing Marine Lab and their amazing fossil museum.
Campers will travel in Cabrillo College vans, driven by camp leaders, for all of the field trips.

This is an active, busy week so campers should wear clothes and shoes suitable for hiking and walking, bring a hat and sunscreen, and bring plenty of snacks, water, and lunch!
