ClassGraphic Join Laura at Four Acorns Farm to learn how to make an intermediate-level basket. The style and shape of the basket you will weave is an open woven lattice, flat reed, round basket. It is traditionally used for storing cheese, and therefore called a Shaker Cheese Basket. As you weave your basket you will learn about the art and craft of basketry, one of the oldest art forms and traditional tools. Laura will guide you through the process from start to finish. She will discuss which tools to use, and how to work with reed. Resources and basket inspiration will also be shared.
This class is suitable for students who have taken one of Laura’s other basketry classes or have basketry experience.

Class is held in the 1880s “olde” barn whose walls are lined with antiques. Right next door is the rare breed poultry barn and two new bathrooms. During class you will be surrounded by the peaceful sounds of Four Acorns Farm and, if time after class permits, we will tour the poultry barn, orchard, and garden.

No experience necessary! Be sure to wear comfortable clothing (and layers). Please bring lunch as we will pause for a midday break.
Your materials fee will be paid in class and covers all the reed necessary to finish your project, and therequired tool kit. For those students who have taken a class with Laura and already have the tool kit,you will not need to pay the $15 for the tool kit, as long as you bring all of your tools!
