ClassGraphic Butterflies and moths are known for intricate wing patterns and iridescence and are indicators of the health of our environment and ecosystems. Join Megan at the beautiful Cabrillo Horticulture Center, with sweeping views of Monterey Bay, to learn about the conservation issues facing butterfly and moth species in California while you practice techniques for illustrating them accurately. A unique characteristic of this insect family is that they have close relationships with the plants their caterpillars eat, making them vulnerable to ecological disruptions. Learn what kinds of changes in human behavior may help these beautiful creatures and plants continue to thrive, and what steps each of us can take to make a difference! For your illustrations, Megan will provide scientific specimens and photographs to help illuminate the details needed to create accurate and life-like illustrations.
All skill levels are welcome.

Your materials fee covers supplies chosen by the instructor specifically for nature illustration, which are detailed in the online class listing. You are also required to bring some basic supplies to class. Please see the online class listing for important details about what supplies you need to bring and other details about what to expect.
