Fused Glass Pattern Bar Platter
ID :
14794
« back to classes page
Recharge your creative batteries as you create a beautiful fused glass platter or tray. Create a colorful glass pattern bar of parallel strips of glass in the first class, then arrange slices of your bar in a unique pattern to create your tray or platter in the second class. The soft curves and variety of patterns result from the colors and how the stack is arranged. Your finished piece will be approximately 12” long and 8” wide with several options for the final shape.
During the first week of this class, you will review the fundamentals of fused glass and create your pattern bar stack. Your pattern bar will be fused (kiln fired) and sliced to prepare for the second week. During the second week of the class you will arrange the slices to create your final design. Following the second class your piece will be fired twice in the kiln – first to fuse all the glass pieces together and once more to slump it into your desired shape.
Instruction will include information on the properties of glass and fused glass, glass types, color selection, glass cutting and project assembly so that you can create a beautiful, finished product. You will have the option to slice the bar yourself on a diamond blade tile-saw or to have the instructor slice it for you based on your preference and subject to schedule availability.
No experience required. Materials fee includes all glass, supplies, and kiln firings. Class size is limited to ensure personal attention. Classes fill quickly so register early!
The materials fee covers all needed fusible art glass, use of tools and safety equipment, consumables, and multiple overnight kiln firings. Finished projects will be available for pick-up about a week after the final class meeting to allow for kiln firing time.
For safety, please wear closed-toe shoes and avoid overly loose or flowing clothing, hair or jewelry.
