Uniquely Yours: Explore Your Creative Writing Voice - Intensive

« back to classes page

In this four-session workshop, you will develop a writing practice through a weekly writing routine, develop a community of peer-support, and see patterns in your own writing, both strengths and skills you want to develop.
Explore and strengthen your creative writing voice through guided prompts, in-class writing, attentive listening, and structured feedback in a supportive community. Write in response to thoughtfully designed prompts that spark imagination while you follow your own interests — whether you are working on an ongoing project or simply seeing where the writing leads. Experiment with voice, point of view, image, metaphor and tone, and learn craft through practice rather than lecture. You will have opportunities to share your work and to give and receive feedback  with clear, respectful guidelines that support learning and confidence. You will learn by listening to the work of others and noticing how different voices and approaches open new possibilities for your writing.

You may write poetry, memoir, fiction, creative nonfiction, exploratory pieces, or anything else. The focus is on process, curiosity, and discovery, rather than perfection or critique. You will leave with new pieces of writing generated during class, including drafts, fragments, or short works that can be further developed after class, fresh momentum, and a deeper sense of what makes your writing uniquely yours. You will carry away tools to continue to generate and revise new work independently, a clear sense of your creative writing voice, and increased confidence in your writing process.

Writers of all genres and experience levels are welcome. Please bring your own notebook or paper, pen or pencil, or laptop to write with, whatever works best for you.
