Assemblage - Creating with Found, Repurposed, and Reused Objects

Learn to create unique assemblage art pieces with found, repurposed, and reused materials. Whether you have a box of interesting found objects, keepsakes from your childhood, or a collection of single earrings or clock pieces, you can give them new life with assemblage sculpture. Learn how to design and construct your unique piece with the materials you bring to class. You will have access to a wide collection of materials provided by your instructor. Learn about balance of form, dynamics, texture, how to create structural integrity, how to use small power tools, and to understand the various adhesives and joining techniques needed to build your piece. 
This class is open to beginners, or artists who have worked with other mediums. Each piece is unique, so you may have time to finish in class, or you may take home in-progress pieces to continue building with your new assemblage skills and knowledge. 
Your materials fee will cover access to power tools, adhesives, hardware, a large assortment of found objects, art papers, beads, wire, and other objects to work with. Please bring as many found objects as you’d like to include in your piece that are personal or interesting to you and Janet will help you determine if these objects can be incorporated into your piece.
Bring a medium sized wooden cutting board to class that will act as your base. They can easily be found at a thrift shop! Also bring your lunch and a drink.
