Metal Clay Meets Mother Nature
ID :
15584
« back to classes page
As magical as Mother Nature herself, metal clay paste lets you make pure silver, exact replicas of delicate leaves, quirky twigs, and elegant seed pods in one short class. You will learn to select appropriate pods, leaves, and other natural objects for this process, coat the objects with silver clay, and also discuss finishing and polishing. A second project uses metal clay and an embossing technique to create a pendant. You’ll also learn unusual types of bails for suspending your pendants from a necklace. Once your pieces are fired and polished, you'll have an heirloom piece of jewelry to enjoy, or gift to someone special!
You will have time to finish two or three pieces, depending on the complexity of your design. After class, we’ll fire your pieces in our jewelry kilns and pre-polish them with our magnetic tumbler. You will return to pick up your finished pieces and spend about 15 minutes to add patina one week after the last class.
Total cost for materials will vary within the stated range and is based on the silver market. Materials include kiln firing, shared chemicals and supplies and the required metals (or metal clays). Gemstones, if used, are available for sale at a discounted rate.
Materials fee will be between $100-$130 paid in class
No experience necessary! Class size is limited so register early!
