“Poetry lifts the veil from the hidden beauty of the world, and makes familiar objects be as if they were not familiar.”

— Percy Bysshe Shelley

Poets unite! Explore the beauty and power of poetry in this highly interactive writing workshop. Whether you're an aspiring poet or have a regular writing practice established, this workshop will invigorate your creative spirit and give you the confidence and practical skills required to form healthy writing habits for a lifetime. During this writing class you will:

  • Learn how to kickstart your writing and avoid writer’s block
  • Explore your unique voice
  • Write from prompts to develop your craft
  • Read master poets’ works
  • Learn techniques to establish a regular writing practice

Join Kay at the Community Room of Cabrillo’s Environmental Horticulture Center and Botanic Gardens, located on 11 beautiful acres atop Cabrillo’s campus. Students will be able to enjoy time outside on reflective writing exercises and join the group indoors to enjoy the sweeping views of the Monterey Bay - perfect inspiration for a day of creating poetry!
