Are you curious about the process of distilling spirits? Would you like to see the inner workings of a locally owned small-batch craft distillery? Join Lindsay for a behind-the-scenes tour of Venus Spirits, on the West Side of Santa Cruz. Get an up-close look at their hand-pounded copper Alembic stills imported from Spain, and one Bennet still fabricated in Italy, where they distill small-batch whiskey, gin, aquavit, vodka, blue agave spirits, and rum. Tour the brewhouse and see the kettle, mash tun, and fermenters, and get a peek at the new American oak barrels, where the spirits rest. As you tour the distillery, watching the barrels maturing, you will learn the difference between a pot still and continuous still, and discuss the spirits made at Venus, with a specific emphasis on gin, as that is what Venus is most known for!

Class will meet in front of the 200 High Road location. Look for the large storage container with the “Venus” sign.
