Today more and more people are adopting a plant-based diet. There are many reasons why - some want to lose weight, others want to boost their immune system or treat a health condition, some aim to improve their athletic performance, while many want to lower their carbon footprint and be kinder to farm animals. Whatever the reason, current science shows that eating a healthy plant-based diet is not only good for you, but good for the health of our planet as well. Yet maybe you’re hesitant to make this change because you’re not sure how to start or whether you’ll get all the necessary nutrients? Perhaps you’re already vegetarian but wonder how you’d manage without cheese? Maybe you’d simply like to eat less meat and more plants but need some inspiration? Whatever your situation - this class is for you!

Nurse practitioner, Susan Lavelle, will offer practical tips for switching to a more plant-based way of eating. She’ll provide nutrition information and discuss key nutrients and their impact on your health. Along with Jan Shaw’s capable assistance, Susan will demonstrate how to cook a variety of delicious plant-based recipes in every class. While you’re learning how to select, prepare and cook tasty plant-based dishes, we’ll encourage you to “test-drive” this way of eating in this fun supportive environment. By the end of this 5-week program, you’ll not only feel more confident eating plant-based, you’ll likely also leave behind some unwanted pounds, reduce your blood pressure, stabilize your blood sugar, and boost your mood and energy! So what are you waiting for? Please come join us and see how eating more plants can help you look better, feel better, and be more energetic than ever!

This is a Food for Life class series. The Food for Life program is a community-based, nutrition education program developed by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM).
