ClassGraphic Tea by its nature is meant to be shared, and the simple act of preparing a cup of tea can reveal "greatness in the smallest incidents of everyday life." Join Michael at Cabrillo's beautiful Horticulture Center, high atop the Cabrillo campus, with sweeping views of the bay. Learn tips for successful brewing as you enjoy a tasting of this year’s spring harvested green teas from around the world, specially curated from Michael's personal collection, and served in handmade ceramic teaware. Learn about different types of tea, such as Dragonwell, Sencha, Matcha, Gen Mai Cha, as well as the concept of tea as medicine, tea as meditation, the psychological and physiological responses to tea, and the social aspects of experiencing tea with others. From legendary origins in China to contemporary cultivation practices, you will explore the history of green tea, botany, and processing techniques.

This class is limited to only 8 students, to assure a relaxed communion between instructor and students, in the style of Chinese gongfu tea ceremony.
