Fused Glass Pattern Bars 2 Ways

ID : 11482
« back to classes page
ClassGraphic Pattern bars are pieces of glass arranged and fused into a block then sliced across the grain. The slices are creatively arranged to build a unique geometric pattern in the final piece. The possibility of soft curves, repeating patterns and optical illusions result from the shape, colors, and arrangement of the glass in the bar and how the resulting pattern bar slices are arranged in the final piece. Every stack, every pattern bar and every final piece is unique!

In this class you will learn about 2 different approaches to creating and using pattern bars. You will make 2 different pattern bars and finished pieces depending on individual ability and interests.  Triangular and square pattern bar formats will be used to create abstract, geometric and striped pattern bars. Instruction will build on your existing fused glass skills and knowledge.

Materials fee includes all needed fusible art glass, decorative components, use of hand and power glass cutting and shaping tools, use of safety equipment, consumables required for kiln firing, and up to 4 overnight kiln firings for each piece you create. Bring a pen and notebook to take notes. Everything else you need will be provided.

Prerequisite: Prior experience with cutting and shaping glass and designing and assembling fused glass projects is required (e.g., Beginning Fused Glass Explorations). Prior experience with pattern bars will be helpful (e.g., Intermediate Fused Glass or Fused Glass Pattern Bar Platter).

Projects will be available for pick-up about a week after class to allow for kiln firing time.

You are required to wear closed-toe shoes. Also, please wear comfortable clothes and avoid overly loose or flowing clothing and jewelry. Class size is limited to ensure personal attention. Class fills fast so register early!
