« back to classes page

Take your glass fusing to the next level with new techniques, including cutting glass circles, pattern bars, edge construction, pulling glass cane from a vitrigraph kiln, draping, fire polishing, flip firing, etching and frit casting. Build on your prior fusing experience and knowledge to make more complex and more refined fused glass art pieces. Emphasis is hands-on learning through the design and implementation of personalized fused glass projects. You will complete at least 4 individualized, unique pieces. Pieces may include candle holders, platters, bowls, trays, plaques and more in this fast-paced class.
You will have access to a configurable glass cutting system, diamond table and ring saws, table and flat-lap grinding machines, and a vitrigraph kiln.  You will grow your knowledge of the interaction of glass and temperature and advance your knowledge of kiln firing schedules and programing digital kilns.

Materials fee includes all needed fusible art glass, decorative components, use of hand and power glass cutting and shaping tools, use of recommended safety equipment, consumables required for kiln firing, and up to 4 overnight kiln firings (e.g., tack or full fuse, fire polish, slump, drape) for each piece you create. Bring a pen and notebook to take notes. Everything else you need will be provided. Projects will be available for pick-up about a week after class to allow for kiln firing time
