Learn about the magic of fused glass while making a unique, personalized fused glass 10-inch diameter round bowl or a 7 by 11-inch rectangular dish. You will learn about the basic properties of glass and fused glass, glass types, color selection, glass cutting, and project assembly so that you can create beautiful, finished products. Design suggestions and inspirations will be available but only the constraints of available time and the physical properties of glass will limit your creative aspirations. Geometric, abstract, or representational approaches are all possible. Decorative components including frit, stringer, glass cabochons, iridescent glass, and cane may be used to enhance your design.

You will have access to glass cutting systems, a diamond wheel grinder, a drill press, and a ring saw. Following the class, your piece will undergo two overnight kiln firings. The first will fuse all the glass elements of your design into a single flat piece of glass and the second will slump the glass into a ceramic mold to achieve its final 3-dimensional shape.

Materials fee includes all needed fusible art glass, decorative components, use of safety equipment, consumables required for kiln firing, and up to 4 overnight kiln firings. Bring a pen and notebook to take notes. Everything else you need will be provided. Projects will be available for pick-up about a week after class to allow for kiln firing time.

No experience required! You are required to wear closed-toe shoes. Also, please wear comfortable clothes and avoid overly loose or flowing clothing and jewelry. Class size is limited to ensure personal attention. Class fills fast so register early!
