Spring Flowers Hike in North Big Sur (ages 16 and older)

« back to classes page
ClassGraphic Big Sur’s largest state park, Andrew Molera, has everything you could want in a Big Sur hike. But knowing exactly where to hike, and when, can lead to truly magical experiences. Gary will guide you on a hike to see the rare elfin redwood grove, the wild and vibrant coastline, and you may have the chance to see the purple-colored garnet sands that are driven by the winter storms. The timing allows you to enjoy the park’s bumper crop of spring wildflowers, and honor the sacred time of Spring Equinox as you internalize nature’s beauty. You will begin your walk along the low tide of the seashore and return by way of the groomed state park trail.

Famed author Henry Miller wrote, “It was here in Big Sur that I first learned to say amen.” This is a hike for those who want to lose themselves in the majestic beauty of one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines. The goal is to use this time, surrounded by natural beauty, to cleanse, inspire, and offer a kind of meditation, rest, and sanctuary.
