ClassGraphic Awaken your senses and experience the world through your artist's eyes! Allow your creativity to flow free as you blend writing, photography, collage, imagery, and color to create a beautiful art journal and visual diary. Your thoughts, dreams, and vision will come alive as you follow guided prompts to explore the world around you and find the power in your creativity! Much more than a how-to class, this camp will help you focus on the creative process itself and how to develop your unique artistic voice through mixed-media exploration.

In the highly immersive sessions, you will work with creative prompts and combine writing, photography, collage, painting, doodles, stencils and page design to make a visual journal. You will be on the move and active in this camp! Studio work and walks around campus with cameras will give you the chance to collect subject-matter for your visual storytelling and expression. You will take home your mixed media art journal full of your creative work, and with plenty of room to continue your journaling practice at home.

This workshop provides a safe and non-judgmental environment for participants of all levels of artistic experience. No writing, collage, painting/drawing or photography experience is necessary. You may use your cell phone or camera for photography.

All materials and supplies are provided in class. Please wear comfortable clothes, shoes that are good for walking, and dress for the weather. We’ll be outside a lot!

Before bringing your child to camp, please read through this list. Following these steps will help us assure that your child is safe, healthy, and has tons of fun at camp!
  • Always send your child with a snack and a drink. Food = mood, and we want campers to be at their best! No food is available on campus.
  • Please be sure you have notified us of any behavioral or medical conditions we need to be aware of to help your child have a successful week at camp.
  • Campers need to be signed out every day by the individuals who have been approved by parent or legal guardian to pick them up, and are required to show a photo ID every day.
  • In order to protect the privacy and security of all minors on our campus, photographs by parents and family members in class are not permitted. Instructors and Extension staff often take photos and may share them with campers’ families via email once camp has concluded.
