Silver Metal Clay and Dichroic Glass Fusion Jewelry

ID : 13017
« back to classes page
ClassGraphic Combine the magic of silver metal clay and dichroic glass to create a one-of-a-kind pendant or pair of earrings. Sparkling dichroic glass can be fired surrounded by silver to make jewelry that sparkles and shines without soldering. Choose from a selection of handmade fused glass cabochons provided in class, or bring your own. You’ll learn the special techniques needed to set your cabochons in fine silver metal clay and how to use a special variety of silver clay to embellish your cabochon. You’ll learn design considerations, solutions to technical issues, and basic metal clay tools and techniques. You’ll also learn how dichroic glass cabochons are made, but will not make them in class.
Firing schedules will be provided for both the cabochons and for the finished silver pieces, but since your piece has to be fired at each step for over 8-hours, your pieces will be fired in the jewelry kilns after class and then pre-polished with our magnetic tumbler. You will return to pick up your finished pieces and add patina one week after the last class.

No experience necessary! Class size is limited so register early!
