Learn to create mandala-like patterns with glass triangle pattern bars. These triangle bars naturally produce 4 and 8 fold patterns. You will use strips of glass stacked and fused into a block, which are then sliced across the grain to create the pattern bars. Color selection, stacking methods, and the arrangement of the slices in the final piece provide unlimited possibilities. Every stack, every pattern bar, and every final piece is unique!
In the first class, you will review the fundamentals of fused glass and create your pattern bar stack. Your pattern bar will be fused (kiln fired) and sliced to prepare for the second week. In the second class you will arrange the slices to create your final design. Following the second class your piece will be fired twice in the kiln – first to fuse all the glass pieces together and once more to slump it into your desired shape.
Instruction will include information on the properties of glass and fused glass, glass types, color selection, glass cutting and project assembly so that you can create a beautiful, finished product. You will have the option to slice the bar yourself on a diamond blade tile-saw or to have the instructor slice it for you based on your preference and subject to schedule availability.
Your materials fee covers all needed fusible art glass, use of tools and safety equipment, consumables, and multiple overnight kiln firings.
Finished projects will be available for pick-up about a week after the final class meeting to allow for kiln firing time.
