Science and art combine for an activities-packed week of creativity and discovery! Every day of the week you will explore a new oceanography or marine biology topic with hands-on science experiments and art projects. Discover beautiful and amazing facts about the motion of the ocean and how currents start and move; learn about fish morphology and local species, then create "gyotaku" fish prints; learn about local marine algae then create seaweed cyanotypes (sun prints); conduct experiments and learn to identify what types of rocks produces sand, then make "moon sand” (moldable sand that provides a great sensory experience!) Hit the road on the last day of camp with your new marine biology and oceanography knowledge for a visit to the Seymour Marine Discovery Center.

You will go home with a wealth of marine biology and oceanography facts, and your beautiful gyotaku fish prints, moon sand, seaweed cyanotypes, and your "ocean in a jar". Campers will travel to the Seymour Center in Cabrillo College vans and be accompanied by camp instructors.
