These rings are fun to make, and even more fun to wear! Spinner rings, also known as worry rings or meditation rings, are two banded rings. One band of the ring stays in place while the other spins. They originate from ancient Tibetan prayer wheels and many believe they help calm and relieve tension. Learn how to size, texture, solder, combine metals, and complete at least one spinner ring during class. You will start with the wide base ring, then choose from a variety of patterns, widths, and metals for the thin, spinning rings. Learn to solder and forge, and the basics of shop safety and the tools used for this project. There will be time for you to create at least one spinner ring, and you may purchase additional supplies in class if you have time to make more!
Class is held in Cabrillo’s state-of-the-art small metals and jewelry lab. Please wear long pants and closed toe shoes, and please finish all food and drinks before class. Also be prepared to pull your hair back - safety first!
