« back to classes page

Explore the growing refashioning movement and the possibilities it offers for creativity and fun. With fast fashion filling our landfills, and enough garments to clothe generations, you can rethink the life of your clothes by refashioning them into other garments or useful items.  You will work on creating a refashioned garment using denim jeans and/or men’s button up shirts as you explore techniques for rethinking, deconstructing, and creating a new garment using garment sewing skills. Kiki will bring examples of refashioned items and many ideas to spark your inner designer.
This class is for sewists with prior garment sewing experience. In order to participate all students must have prior sewing experience on a sewing machine, understand how to use a sewing machine, and have basic sewing skills.

Your materials fee covers only very basic sewing supplies that are made available to you during class. Please see the online class description for a detailed list of the items you will need to bring to class.

You will use the sewing machines that are provided in class. The classroom is a great space to create and sew, with lots of space to spread out, plenty of Bernina sewing machines, large cutting tables, ironing boards and irons, great music, good company, as well as basic sewing supplies and tools to help you reach your sewing goals.
