Ayurveda, the science of life, and the sister science to yoga, encompasses the healing of body, mind, and spirit through diet, lifestyle, and rejuvenation. You will begin in the yoga studio with Taylor for a 45 minute meditation and gentle movement session with an emphasis on digestive health. After the yoga session, you will move to the culinary teaching space where Manish will break down Ayurvedic principles of common kitchen spices and herbs, while introducing traditional Ayurvedic herbs, spices, and recipes. Learn to use these to enhance flavor and nutrition as you prepare a delicious, locally sourced, organic, plant based, and dairy free meal for the whole class. You will prepare beet dahl, sauteed greens, and coconut date balls using Ayurvedic principles. You and your classmates will sit down and enjoy the meal together at the end of class.
Your materials fee includes a specially curated herb and spice box including seven, 6 oz. jars of organic Ayurvedic spices. You will also take home a worksheet with information about your spices, yoga movements, understanding your dosha (your unique constitution), and how to stimulate digestion through movement and nutrition. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, you will leave with new skills to apply Ayurveda and bring balance to your body and mind.
For the movement portion of class please wear comfortable clothes, and bring a yoga mat or blanket. For the cooking portion of class, please wear closed-toed shoes and long pants, and you may bring your favorite apron.
