Join us for a special musical experience this summer!

This week-long music camp will offer string orchestra, band and full orchestra groups for beginning, intermediate and advanced students. It will also include chamber music and alternative style (Jazz, Celtic, or Contemporary) ensembles. Instruction will be provided by highly qualified, professional musicians who are members of the Cabrillo College Music and Youth Strings faculty. We will create music using the best of literature.

Students will develop performance, ensemble and musicianship skills. They will also increase knowledge of music theory, various musical styles (from Baroque-Contemporary, Jazz styles/ Improvisation, Fiddle/Celtic styles), and work with other instruments in a group (full orchestra).

Music groups include String Orchestra, Band and Full Orchestra (Strings, Winds, Brass and Percussion) on Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Levels. Sectionals will be held for the various instrumental groups listed above. Chamber Music/Jazz/Celtic/Ensembles (strings, winds, brass, percussion or a combination) will also be offered.

This program will culminate in a special performance on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 for our musicians will share their accomplishments with friends and family.

Music reading experience is highly recommended. Beginning music students are welcome.

Students provide their own instruments and lunch.

Upon registration, students will be sent a confirmation email with a link to an online information form. Please submit that information at your earliest convenience.

Please read:  After registration please follow this link to provide instructors with information about your student's instrument, their music study history, and other important information that will help instructors best assign students to groups. We are excited to see your child at camp next week. Please read through these important details to help your child enjoy camp, and to help us keep campers safe! • Send your child with a snack and a drink. Food = mood and we want campers to be at their best! • Be sure you have notified us of any behavioral or medical conditions we need to be aware of. • Check-in and check-out procedures are designed to keep campers safe! Instructors need to check each child in and out, so parents are invited to drop off and pick up their child outside of the classroom. • Photographs by parents and family members in class are not permitted. Extension staff will take group photos and share them with camper’s families once camp has concluded, and send via email to parents. Campers name tags will be removed for these photographs to respect and protect privacy. • Cell phones or hand held games may not be used during camps. • Please let Extension know if there is anything we can do to be sure your camper is safe and has fun.
