ID : 5430
« back to classes page
This innovative class addresses the techniques of rusting, burning and dying using tea to color, enhance and embellish fabric, fiber and paper.
Adding these simple, earthy elements to your toolbox will provide you with a lovely neutral palette that could springboard a new direction in
your creative work.
We will burn marks, designs and patterns into fabric using incense, torches and wood burning tools. We will rust using steel wool and to create pattern on fabric and paper. Adding tea to the mix incorporates another beautiful neutral and when combined with rust produces black.
Various fabrics and paper will be provided and you will want to bring in your own paper, fabric or garment to customize your work. Besides working on individual elements you may also bring an existing garment you want to alter.
Come away with elements for collage, quilts or garments, and complete a sample book of all your experiments. Many of these elements will be the perfect items to incorporate into to the Encaustic Palette Collage workshop on July 29-30.
