Continuing education is a requirement for many healthcare professions, including medical assisting. There are many benefits to receiving continuing education including keeping up-to-date with industry standards, refreshing professional skills, and providing an opportunity for healthcare professionals to continue to learn and grow both personally and professionally. As a general rule, 1-hour of instruction time is equal to one continuing education unit (CEU). For a medical assistant who received their certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the requirement for continued certification is to receive 60 CEU’s over a 5-year period.

All Extension classes are for students aged 18 and up, unless otherwise noted.
