ClassGraphic Learn the art and science of preparing delicious meals using ingredients sourced directly from your local farmers and producers! In this hands-on conscious cooking adventure, you will prepare a three course meal as you explore the connections between food, community, and the environment. Embrace the principles of sustainability, organic farming, and hear the stories behind the ingredients to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the food and flavors. Learn about no-waste recipes and seasonal menu planning as you prepare fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Recipes will include a hearty roasted veggie gazpacho, a rich, savory goat cheese and leek galette, and a sweet, seasonal sorbet.
This class will begin at the Cabrillo Farmers Market to pick up ingredients and meet some of the farmers, then back to the culinary classroom. After you have prepared your recipes, you will enjoy your delicious meal together with a view of Monterey Bay! You will go home with samples of each menu item, recipes for the items you have prepared, and resources about buying seasonal, local foods, and understanding food labels.

Please wear closed-toed shoes and long pants, and you may bring your favorite apron. You will receive recipes after your class, since they'll be based on the produce purchased from the Farmer's Market that very morning. If you like, bring a notebook with you to class, to take notes.
