Join a master baker at the Cabrillo Bakeshop to make fluffy, crunchy, cheesy savory baked treats! During the week you will prepare savory hand pies, scones, tarts, personal pizzas, and fresh baked bread and sandwich fillings - yum! Along the way you will learn basic baking techniques like how to make a flaky pie crust, a cheesy tart crust, how yeasted breads work, how to make a proper pizza crust, and how to adapt basic dough recipes to include all kinds of amazing flavors.
Each day includes demonstrations by Chef Stephany, and then you will work in teams to use your new skills to prepare the day’s recipes. Learn about teamwork, communication, organization, kitchen safety, food hygiene, the science of baking, and presentation. You will go home each day with delicious samples of your savory baked goods, and take home a full recipe packet that includes pointers and tips about the skills and techniques you learned in camp.

Students are required to wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, an apron, and a hat, bandana, or hair net. Aprons and hair nets are provided in class, students may bring a hat if they prefer.
